By reading the latest twitter messages (see frontpage of website) they must be quite near a first version for L4D 2. Though this could mean within 2 weeks or 2 months, dunno.

I went ahead and downloaded v1.1 and tried playing single player. Very nice! I had to quit after getting stuck on helicopter debris twice, so I'll have to find a safe route through that so I can see the rest of the campaign (very much looking forward to v1.2 fixing this problem so I can recommend this campaign to my friends and play some coop).

Can't wait for v1.2 and L4D2 version!
